Feeder trolley and total circuit board containers for SMT production lines

From 11. to 14. November, Seika Sangyo, Düsseldorf, will present their latest innovation for optimising the storage process of IC components at Productronica in Munich.
Seika Sangyo has worked for many years on the continual further development of McDry Drying Cabinets, for the optimisation of quality assurance during the production process in SMT production lines.

The company has aided the development of international IPC/JDEC standards and obligatory guidelines for the professional storage and dehumidification of IC components. The absorption of moisture in sensitive multi-pole components during the production process continually poses quality problems for the operators of SMT production processes, such as micro cracks and popcorning.

With the introduction of dehumidification methods, Seiko Sangyo additionally placed Zeolith on the international market as a cheaper and maintenance-free alternative to Nitrogen.

Zeolith – the regenerative mineral ensures lowest moisture
Zeolithe (aqueoua Alkali aluminium silicates), with characteristic 3-D crystal lattices connected in a tetrahedric form, is crossed with regular canal and cage systems. With these systems, Zeolith can absorb and release water without being used up or having to be exchanged.

Moisture contained within IC components is removed with the help of this strong drying agent. Zeolith is automatically regenerated through a heating mechanism, in which the absorbed moisture is evaporated and extracted out of the cabinet. Zeolith does not have to be exchanged and is therefore maintenance-free.

The McDry Drying Cabinets Series garantees reliable storage and the dehumidification of moisture-sensitive IC components with an acheivable resilient relative humidity.

DXU 4006 – Dehumidification Concept for the Future
With the development of this generously dimensioned drying cabinet (Width: 1650mm, Height: 2180mm, Depth: 1305mm), Seiko Sangyo has once again responded to the need for single components, which are required for production, to be able to be stored dryly and dehumidified according to international IPC/JDEC standards.
The DXU 4006 Series was specially developed for large components and is suitable for circuit board containers, complete storage trolleys or feeder units for all SMT production lines. The capacity of the ESD standardised cabinet is measured so that depending on make (approx. 500 x 300 x 400mm), six to eight storage trolleys or a complete feeder unit can fit into it (all makes can be integrated).

The welded melamine coated steel construction has two glass doors with magnet seals and a removeable unit in the upper parts. Over eight drying units constantly maintain a relative humidity of 5%. A 4mm thick floor panel makes easy access possible; storage trolleys or circuit board containers can simply be pulled inside.

Downloading Data
Sensors installed in the side walls provide a permanent surveillance of the humidity as well as temperature, and the external digital moisture indicator is set according to strict guidelines. Temperature and moisture data can also be recorded and saved in PCs or archives for the first time.

The DXU 4006 McDry Drying Cabinets fulfill IPC/JDEC standards (033A) for the storage of moisture-sensitive components. McDry Drying Cabinets make the storage and drying of moisture sensitive IC components and half-circuit units within IPC guidelines possible, including during longer production stand still times (e.g. in the case of damage or over the weekend).
